Mr. Luis Torres » Living Environment

Living Environment

Course Description,
In this course, students will be asked to explore various concepts that relate to life science. Topics will
include but are not limited to cytology, biochemistry, reproduction, genetics, biotechnology, and
ecology. Students will reach an understanding of these different fields of science through inquiry,
cooperative learning, laboratory activities, and discussion of class readings. The hands-on lab
component will not only enhance the application and understanding of the science concepts in the
course but will also fulfill the state-mandated lab requirement. While the underlying goal of this
course encourages students to begin to consider a future career in the science or medical industry,
the major goal is to increase the students’ scientific literacy in order for them to become an active
member of a science-based society.
